The International Festival of Arts & Ideas brings together the people of the greater New Haven community and thousands of visitors through a celebration of artists and thinkers from around the world.

The 2009 Festival will provide a remarkable range of programs, activities, and performances. Among the highlights are: Village of Villages, a program that will transform the New Haven Green into a celebration of dance traditions and participatory activities from around the world.
History:
The International Festival of Arts & Ideas plays host to 100,000 people each year. Since its founding in 1996, the Festival has presented more than 10,000 artists and thinkers in over 3,000 events, celebrations, explorations, forums, exhibitions, debates, presentations, and more over 133 days in more than two dozen venues in and around New Haven, CT, including theaters, concert halls, courtyards, and the streets. More than 70 countries have been represented in the Festival since its inception. In 2005 alone, 20 countries were represented, including Algeria, Canada, Ecuador, France, Greece, India, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Norway, Puerto Rico, Spain, Sweden, Thailand, Trinidad & Tobago, Ukraine, the United Kingdom and the United States.
