AIDS Project New Haven is committed to providing support services, basic needs and education to individuals and their families in the greater New Haven area who are infected and affected by HIV. Our goals are to increase public awareness, promote prevention through educational programs and advocacy, and secure funding for the support services we provide for our clients.

Description:
AIDS Project New Haven provides many services including Case Management that coordinates agency services and links our clients to necessary resources; Caring Cuisine, a meal delivery program designed to fulfill daily nutritional requirements and individual dietary needs to homebound clients; Education and Community Outreach where staff and volunteers provide HIV awareness and prevention education throughout the Greater New Haven area through programs such as S.I.S.T.A. and Community Promise; Brothers/Hermanos which provides outreach to HIV positive men of color who have sex with men and who are not receiving services; The Buddy Program, a program that pairs a client to a volunteer "buddy" who provides emotional and practical kinds of support; and, Together Through Touch, an alternative therapy program that offers massage to people living with HIV/AIDS free of charge. The Women Empowered support group meets every other Wednesday for lunch and seminars, and Positive Voices, a gay men's group that meets every other Wednesday. In addition, various fundraising events are held throughout the year to help continue providing these services to our clients.

History:
AIDS Project New Haven, founded in 1981, is the oldest AIDS service organization in the State of Connecticut. Incorporated in 1983 by a small group of volunteers, the agency has since expanded to provide services to clients throughout the Greater New Haven area. APNH is comprised of a culturally and racially diverse staff of fourteen members who provide direct service programs to over 400 clients.
