Logo

The mission of Connecticut Food Bank (CFB) is to alleviate hunger by supplying food products and resources to agencies throughout our service areas, and to promote public awareness about the problem of hunger.

Description:
By soliciting the food industry for products they will not sell - products that are wholesome but that usually have some cosmetic flaw - CFB reduces food waste and feeds people.

CFB provides food to 650 programs, including soup kitchens, food pantries, shelters and residential centers.

In 2007 Connecticut Food Bank distributed 15.3 million pounds of food; since its incorporation in 1982, it has distributed 171 million pounds of food.

Connecticut Food Bank is funded privately, supported by a broad base of individuals, businesses, foundations and community organizations.

History:
Founded in 1982, Connecticut Food Bank is a private, nonprofit organization that serves community-based hunger-relief organizations in six of Connecticut's eight counties: Fairfield, Litchfield, Middlesex, New Haven, New London and Windham.
