History:
Established in 1913, the Clifford Beers Clinic is the oldest community-based non-profit outpatient mental health clinic in the country.

The Clinic continues to build on its tradition of innovative and specialized psychiatric care, through specialized services and outreach initiatives.

Clifford Beers Clinic was founded by Clifford Whittingham Beers, seen by many as the founder of the mental health movement. In his autobiography, "The Mind That Found Itself," Clifford Beers wrote,
"A pen rather than a lance has been my weapon of offence and defense; for with its point I have felt sure that I should one day prick the civic conscience into a compassionate activity and thus bring into a neglected field earnest men and women who should act as champions for those afflicted thousands least able to fight for themselves." We, at the Clifford Beers Clinic, strive to carry on the legacy of Mr. Beers as well as encourage others to act as advocates for children & families.
