Civic or Faith Based Organization Meal Donation Group Friendly Health Neighbor to Neighbor

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on April 27, 2009

Fellowship serves three meals a day for five days a week, as well as a mid-day meal on weekends. Our food costs are rising and we need to find ways to deal with these costs. One way is to collaborate with community volunteer organizations who will bring and serve food. Also, having volunteers here can go a long way toward reducing stigma. The group will coordinate a monthly meal donation (or more frequently), including food donation, preparation, serving and clean-up for the members of Fellowship Place, through an affiliation with a faith-based, civic or non-profit organization.

Must have the ability to connect with and enjoy interacting with people. Willingness to be flexible and accommodating to programmatic needs. Maintain positive work attitude. Bilingual a plus.

5 Overall Experience    Experience rating
Very rewarding experience

I was a volunteer in this position for 2 years and now work here as a Job Coach in the Career Development Dept! I loved teaching the Computer Courses - the members are so willing to learn new skills. I also learned a lot from the members and have made lifetime friends. A new computer center is being built to accomodate the number of members who want to learn computer skills. I would encourage anyone with the time and knowledge to take advantage of this awesome opportunity.
