Recording for the Blind & Dyslexic, a nonprofit volunteer organization, is the nation's educational library serving people who cannot effectively read standard print due to visual impairment, learning disabilities such as dyslexia, or physical disabilities. Our mission is to create opportunities for individual success by providing, and promoting the effective use of, accessible education materials. RFB&D's vision is for all people to have equal access to the printed word.
Volunteers read school books...on all subjects and all levels, from elementary through grad school. Each book is read by several volunteers. Volunteers come from all over the State, and are a very friendly welcoming group. Being a volunteer at RFB&D is rewarding....and fun... you just never know what you might learn.
Restrictions: All volunteers are trained to use our computer equipment. There is no time requirement for learning. All volunteers interested in reading will be required to take an audition. We ask for a two hour a week commitment.
