The Downtown Educational Collaborative is a partnership of Lewiston-Auburn’s academic institutions and other community partners; it is dedicated to collaborative, community-based educational work that meets the needs and builds the capacity of the downtown community and draws on the commitment of the Colleges of the Androscoggin to community-engaged teaching, research, service, and cultural work.

The Downtown Educational Collaborative is a partnership of Lewiston-Auburn’s academic institutions and other community partners; it is dedicated to collaborative, community-based educational work that meets the needs and builds the capacity of the downtown community and draws on the commitment of the Colleges of the Androscoggin to community-engaged teaching, research, service, and cultural work.
The Collaborative has four foundational goals:
to bring the resources and skills of the Colleges of the Androscoggin into partnership with the downtown community, through collaborative projects and the provisioning of skills and services to foster inter-college collaboration, and develop usable models of inter-college collaboration, among the Colleges of the Androscoggin to create a community-based “public square” for democratic dialogue, learning, and action and to enhance the role of education to empower communities and effect beneficial social change The core partners of the Collaborative include the four Colleges of the Androscoggin--Andover College, Bates College, Central Maine Community College, the University of Southern Maine—Lewiston-Auburn College—Lewiston Adult Education, the Lewiston Public Library, and Empower Lewiston. This core group actively collaborates with other key downtown stakeholders, community groups, and service providers. Our office is located in a storefront on Lisbon Street in downtown Lewiston.
