The mission of Community Care is to provide quality community-based services that are timely and effective in promoting the health and well being of individuals and families.
Description:
Community Care offers community-based support and mental health services to individuals and families throughout Maine. Established in 1996, Care has grown to meet a wide range of social and clinical needs through its expanding continuum of programs and services, including an outpatient clinic, intensive home-based supports, adult services, residential programs, and treatment foster care. We are committed to excellence in service delivery and we value strong cooperative efforts between community providers. Accredited nationally by the Council on Accreditation, we are recognized as a top quality resource for promoting the health, well being, and independence of individuals and families. We value our membership in Maine communities and work with our clients in a friendly atmosphere staffed by sensitive and highly skilled professionals.
History:
1995: Opened headquarters in Bangor with a staff of five and received Child Placing and Mental Health Licenses from the State of Maine. Placed eleven children with seven foster homes. 1996: Began the Family Support Services program. Opened first satellite office in Dexter, followed by Cherryfield and Lincoln. Placed 83 foster children. 1997: Opened the Oakland Bridge Home serving children who have been displaced from their families, or their foster home or group home. Won bids to provide foster care in a joint venture with the Maine Department of Human Services and Casework Support Services. Placed 127 foster children. 1998: Opened ADAM House in Brewer (Adolescents Developing And Maturing) to provide a residential treatment environment for a maximum of six teenage girls. Residents typically have trauma histories related to past physical, sexual, and/or emotional abuse and have experienced many different placements prior to joining the program. Established an office in Presque Isle. Established Family Foster Care services program. Began Special Needs Adoption program in conjunction with the Department of Human Services to place foster children in permanent homes. Placed two children with adoptive families. Placed 189 foster children. 1999: Added office locations in Augusta and Fort Kent. Established a public partnership with the Department of Human Services to provide support services for the Department's therapeutic foster care program - Maine Caring Families. Placed 13 children with adoptive families. Placed 256 foster children. 2000: Founded 1CarePlace, Inc. as a separate For-Profit C-Corporation to develop and market an Internet based client management system, a customizable and affordable software solution designed for mental health, residential and child welfare organizations. Placed 15 children with adoptive families. Placed 268 foster children. 2001: Opened Skowhegan and Houlton offices. Placed 14 children with adoptive families. Placed 303 foster children. 2002: Placed 12 children with adoptive families. Placed 296 foster children. 2003: Added ninth office location in Surry. Lack of funding resulted in reducing adoption staff from five to one. Placed five children with adoptive families. Placed 366 foster children.
