The mission of the Scarborough VIPS is to enhance the individual and collective safety, general welfare, and quality of life of all citizens of the Town of Scarborough. This will be completed by providing direct support to the Scarborough Police in any function that can be safely and legally conducted by a civilian volunteer.

Description:
VIPS will perfom non emergency duties such as patroling parking lots for parking violations, assisting with traffic control and setting up community outreach events. They will also assist the Department in an administrative function by processing paperwork as well as answering and placing phone calls.

History:
VIPS are a part of the national program Citizens Corp. The program is new in Scarborough,having been fully active for only the since late spring of 2005.
