Last updated on November 15, 2007

In 1973 Deering Pavilion was opened. It is an 11-story residential center providing 200 apartments for the elderly. Full community and social services are designed to encourage and maintain independence and productive functioning of each resident.

Description:
Most of the Residents are in apartments subsidized by
HUD. Residents who require help are able to maintain their independence by having Visiting nurses or other aides assist them with medical or house keeping tasks.

On Staff is the Executive Director, and Administrative Assistant, a Resident Service Coordinator and three maintenance personnel. Every week day a noontime dinner is prepared for those who wish to purchase it at a low cost. We have three kitchen staff.

Although sponsored by the Catholic Diocese, it is opened to people of all faiths.

History:
The Catholic Diocese of Maine realized the need for housing for the elderly. In 1973 Deering Pavilion was opened. Within a few months all 200 units were occupied.
