Portland West Mentoring
[ View Opportunities ]
Last updated on November 10, 2008

As a social service agency, our mission is to eliminate the conditions of poverty and strengthen the bonds of the community. We are consistently working to enhance our programs and provide an environment that is conducive to both personal and professional growth within the community. The programs provide opportunities that would otherwise not be available.

Description:
Portland West serves the community through our various programs: Youth Builders Alternative, Alternative to Detention, Adult ESL, Learning & Resource Center, Housing/Maintenance & Service Works. Volunteers are integral to each of our programs as they provide compassion, creativity and unique talents. Each volunteer opportunity will provide an experience where relationships as a mentor, tutor and friend can develop and the satisfaction of knowing you are helping people who really need you. Discover job opportunities available while gaining valuable experience!

History:
Portland West was established in 1971 as a grassroots association to serve Portland's west end residents. Through the years, Portland West has evolved and adapted to the changing needs by creating and enhancing its literacy, adult and youth programs to better serve the neighborhood residents and the community as a whole.
