PROP provides services to about 7,000 households each year through one or more of 23 integrated programs which take a holistic approach to meeting individual and family needs, removing barriers to self-sufficiency and creating opportunities for positive social change.
Departments include:
PROP Home -- Affordable Rental and Home Ownership Opportunities, Energy and Utility Assistance Programs;
PROP Family -- Head Start, Early Head Start, Child Care, Women, Infants & Children Nutrition Program; PROP Seniors -- Foster Grandparents & Family Friends; PROP Youth -- Peer Leaders, Caring Adults for Resilient Youth (CARY), the Maine Youth Action Network (statewide) and Neighborhoods for Youth;
PROP Community -- Social Services, Social Workers, The Women's Project (statewide), Communities Promoting Health, and Community Organizing.

History:
Established in 1965, PROP has a rich history as a non-profit multi-service Community Action Agency committed to identifying and addressing societal, economic, educational and health issues that exist in Maine.PROP engages the individuals, families and communities they serve in the work they do, helping to build "social capital." This is accomplished through a diverse and representative Board of Trustees, participant Policy Councils, and ever-growing collaborations with local businesses, social service providers, municipalities and other community stakeholders.
