Description:
PROGRAMS & SERVICES

Education & Career Development:
Each unit provides homework help, computer use and instruction, and educational games through their Learning Centers and Tutoring Center. We also offer career guidance and scholarship assistance.

Character & Leadership Development:
These programs offer our members an opportunity to participate in community service projects and citizenship activities. Each member is recognized for their participation.

The Arts:
The Arts offer music, arts & crafts, and special activities which include the Fine Arts Exhibit and photography. We also offer cultural appreciation activities.

Health & Life Skills:
Programs feature activities which include health, substance abuse prevention education and peer resistance skills. Helping with the preparation of nutritious snacks and light meals are also included.

Sports, Fitness & Recreation:
This will include the help with instruction in basketball, soccer, swimming, floor hockey other sports, and our organized basketball league. Instruction in outdoor education, camping, hiking and other activities are included.

History:
The Positive Place for Kids! The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Portland has provided a safe haven for club members since 1909. It's a place for all girls and boys ages 7-17. Affordable membership ($5.00 a year), allowing children of limited means to join and participate in all activities.

Incorporated 501(c)(3) non-profit agency. Independent affiliate of Boys & Girls Clubs of America, the nation's oldest and largest organization with a primary mission of service to youth from disadvantaged circumstances. B&GCA provides support to more than 2,900 Club locations and serves 3.3 million deserving girls and boys annually.
