Through employment, residential, educational, and support services, Goodwill works to enhance the social and economic independence of people with disabilities and others who experience barriers to such independence.
Description:
We are committed to providing services that satisfy the needs and desires of the people we serve, as measured by both their expressions of satisfaction and their progress toward goals. In all cases, we will strive to enhance the vocational and social independence of the people we serve. We recognize the ever-changing needs within the community. We will consider developing new services if sufficient need is expressed. Although the majority of the people we serve will have a disability, we do not limit the availability of our services to people with disabilities.
History:
Goodwill Industries of Northern New England was founded in Portland, ME in 1933 by Rev. Edgar Helms, a Methodist minister. Goodwill Industries International
was founded in 1902 in Boston, MA. Last year, in honor of the Centennial, we held a special event each month.
