The Pine Tree Chapter of the American Red Cross is a non-profit humanitarian organization that has been serving the communities of Northern and Eastern Maine since 1919. Led by volunteers and guided by our Congressional Charter and the Fundamental Principals of the International Red Cross Movement, the American Red Cross provides relief to victims of disaster and helps people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies.

Description:
Your local Pine Tree Chapter:
• Responds to disasters throughout eastern and northern Maine, including fires, floods, and other natural disasters. The Pine Tree Chapter provides food, clothing, and shelter to victims of these disasters. These services are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
• Provides emergency communication assistance to members of the armed forces and their families.
• Certifies people in CPR, first aid, lifeguarding, babysitter’s training and other lifesaving skills.
• Provides disaster education, preparedness, and other presentations to communities throughout eastern and northern Maine.
• Provides international tracing services to families who have lost communication due to war, political tension, or disaster.
• Has a strong group of committed volunteers who respond locally and nationally to disasters and emergencies.

History:
With offices in Caribou, Bangor, Ellsworth, and Rockland the Pine Tree chapter serves 296 communities in Northern and Eastern Maine including Aroostook, Washington, Piscataquis, Waldo, Penobscot, Hancock, Knox, and parts of Lincoln counties.
