Mission Statement: Adoptive and Foster Families of Maine, Inc. (AFFM) is a non-profit Maine Corporation whose mission is to provide support services for Maine's adoptive and foster families and for relatives raising relative's children (kinship providers).
Description:
AFFM provides liaison services for all of Maines adoptive and foster parents. AFFM is contracted with the Maine Department of Human Services and provides a wide variety of resources and services including: Toll free line for assistance
AFFM provides the following services:
Library with Educational Books and Videos
Training Programs, Seminars and Conferences
Monthly newsletter 'Family Ties'
Collaboration with State and Private Agencies
Technical Assistance
Allegation support
Legislative Action Committee
Community Gift Program
Web Site: affm.net AFFM is also involved in bringing Camp To Belong (CTB) to Maine, starting in August 2004. Camp To Belong reunites separated brothers and sisters. Unfortunately, about 75% of 'kids in care' (adopted and foster children) are separated from one or more siblings and CTB gives them a chance to reunite for a week and re-establish their sibling bond.

Adoptive and Foster Families of Maine was founded in 1997 by Bette Hoxie and other foster parents and advocates for children to provide support services for Maine's adoptive and foster families and kinship providers.
