CA$H Greater Portland, helping families and individuals achieve long-term financial stability, is looking for volunteers for the 2009 tax season. CA$H Greater Portland Tax Sites are “the gateway” to helping a household increase their income. Qualified filers can have their federal and state income taxes prepared and filed for free during tax season—avoiding high-priced income tax filing fees and Refund Anticipation Loans. Clients often learn about tax credits and rebates that they have never applied for before. For example, $4 million from the Earned Income Tax Credit is left unclaimed in Cumberland County every year. Help us return this money to our community! Thanks to our volunteers, clients also get connected to local resources that can help them manage their money, reduce debt and save for the future. So, how can you help? Do you like talking on the phone? Help us schedule tax site appointments!
We need your help anytime between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday-Friday from January 11-March 5, 2010. Parking will be provided near our office, 400 Congress St, Portland. For more information or to volunteer, contact Nicole at 874-1000 or email nevans@unitedwaygp.org.
