Energy Efficiency and Home Heating Environmental Community Development

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on November 6, 2009

Come learn new skills and help make a positive green impact on your community. All this while meeting great people and contributing to a time dollar economy! Volunteers will work with staff members on various weatherization projects in the greater Portland area. We aim to increase energy efficiency and help lower home owner’s costs. Volunteers are encouraged to become members and utilize our time bank model. This model highlights the reciprocity of good deeds and volunteer work by providing you with an alternative currency. One hour of any service is equal to another hour of any other service. Earn and spend time dollars as you choose, and with over a hundred services offered, we are sure you will stay busy. Hour Exchange members enjoy the honor of each other's gifts, talents and skills. We hope to hear from you soon.

Volunteers will be provided with on the job training and learn how to perform cost-effective home repair steps. These steps include caulking and sealing any and all air leaks in a home. Tools will be provided to you at the work site as well as further instructions.
