Searching for an opportunity to support individuals in your community. The Center for Grieving Children has initiated a Multicultural Peer Support Program in collaboration with Portland Public Schools. Elementary and middle school children who have relocated from war-torn countries and have experienced multiple and/or traumatic losses will attend this program on Mondays and Thursdays to participate in activities and interact with individuals with similar experiences. Join the Multicultural Peer Support Program be a companion and mentor to these children. Volunteers are needed from 1:00-5:00pm on Mondays and/or Thursdays from October 29- Mid May of 2010. The program schedule aligns with the school calendar. Volunteers must be 17 or older and must attend a training before beginning their volunteer service. Trainings will begin on September 24th and will occur on Thursdays from 1:00-5:00pm through October. The offical training dates volunteers can choose from are: September 24, October 1, 8, 15, and 22.
