The Purpose and Mission of the United Way of Greater Plymouth County:
To assure, by means of Citizen leadership and action, that the people of greater Plymouth County area are provided with an efficient and effective network of human care services which is capable of meeting documented community needs.
The mission of the United Way of Greater Plymouth County is "To increase the organized capacity of people in the Plymouth County area to care for themselves and for one another."
Description:
The United Way of Greater Plymouth County convenes the community, generates funds and funds solutions. Regularly assessing the needs of the community and identifying how resources can address the current defined needs of the people we serve in the 22 cities and towns in the greater Plymouth County area. Volunteers from the local community review agency proposals and make recommendations to the Board of Directors on how to invest pledge dollars to address the current six defined need areas.
History:
For the past 87 years the United Way of Greater Plymouth County (formerly the Old Colony United Way )has reached out to individuals and businesses to assure "Funds raised for your local United Way are used right here in your community to meet local needs."
