Our aspiration is to allow our residents to live in a warm, loving, home-like atmosphere of support and understanding during their final months of life. We believe in the hospice philosophy of care, that all persons have the right to die with dignity, to have enhanced quality of life for the remainder of their days, and to be as comfortable and pain-free as possible.

Description:
Our Resident Care Volunteers are a group of compassionate and remarkable men and women, who provide hands on personal care to our residents, and much empathy, compassion and love to them as well as their families. The volunteers work in 4 hours shifts throughout the day, seven days a week. (no overnight shifts) They are trained and supervised by our Volunteer Coordinator, as well as by our staff of Nurses. "I didn't really know what it would be like here", said one volunteer. "I expected it to be hushed voices, dark and filled with sadness...what I found was very, very different! From the moment you hit the sidewalk, you are filled with such a sense of serenity, love and warmth. I have made wonderful friends, and am surrounded by the goodness that is in the world. Being a part of this "family" is amazing!"

In addition to hands on care, other volunteers may choose to do home maintenance, yard work, gardening, or fundraising.

History:
We have been welcoming residents with a prognosis of 3 months or less since February, 2003. We have cared for over 200 people to date since the home opened.

We charge nothing for this service, and depend on volunteers to provide care. In addition, fund-raising and donations financially fund our mission.

Take 104 to the Holt Road exit. Turn north off of 104. We are located one mile north of 104 on the right hand side, at the corner of Holt and klem Roads.
