Our mission is to provide a place where children and families grow and develop in a nurturing and supportive environment that encourages friendships and learning amongst adults and children; where a team of trained and caring volunteers provides an attentive ear and a helping hand to support educational and developmental needs of our neighborhood community.

Description:
Two Doors Community Resource Center, Inc. is a neighborhood outreach program located in the Dewey-Stone Neighborhood of Greece which borders the City of Rochester. This economically challenged neighborhood consists of young families, many of whom are headed by single parents with limited income who live in subsidized rental properties. Potential programs were identified based on input obtained through neighborhood surveys, meetings with public school representatives and community leaders. As a result, an after school program aimed at elementary age children was identified.

In June of 1994, Two Doors was created as a tutoring assistance program for below grade level readers and math students. The program has expanded to also include cultural arts programs, summer camp with an educational component, and family outreach to teach families about healthy lifestyles and choices.

History:
Two Doors Community Resource Center, Inc. was established by Bethany Presbyterian Church and a collaborative of community organizations in 1994 to address the disparity in academic performance between students residing in the Dewey/Stone neighborhood of Greece and other area schools. In 2000, Two Doors was incorporated into a private non profit organization serving students and families.
