PRALID's mission is to assist individuals with brain injury, developmental disabilities, including autism, and other disabilities in achieving a challenging, stimulating and dignified life.

Description:
We are a young, rapidly-growing agency that provides services in Monroe, Livingston, Ontario, Wayne, Genesee and Erie County. Services are provided under the New York State Department of Health (DOH) TBI Waiver and Nursing Home Transition and Diversion Waiver and the New York State OMRDD programs. We also accept private-pay consumers.

We currently operate four individual residential alternatives (IRAs), two day programs - one for consumers funded under the New York State Department of Health Traumatic Brain Injury Waiver Program and one for those funded under the New York State Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities Program - and an evening recreational program for participants in the DOH TBI Waiver.

We also provide in-home services to individuals with disabilities to enable them to remain in their own homes when possible, and were recently approved to provide services under the New York State Department of Health Nursing Home Transition and Diversion Waiver. We also provide personal care assistant (PCA) services and training. Our PCA training program is open to other area agencies.

PRALID is also a significant provider of environmental modifications, assistive technology and adaptive devices in Central and Western New York State. Under these programs we provide internal and external adaptations necessary to a person's home such as ramps, accessible bathrooms, etc. and adaptive devices to assist in self-care, work or play such as motorized wheel chairs and light and motion activated electronic devices.

History:
PRALID started small in 1994 with one four-bed group home (IRA) and has grown in response to community need. We soon added three additional IRAs, two day programs and an evening social program in-home services and our environmental modification program.

We recently established a subsidiary, PRALID Home Services, under which we provide a full range of customized personal and health care services including Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses Home Health Aides, Companion care and respite services. We also provide services under the New York State Department of Health Nursing Home Transition and Diversion Waiver.
