Resident Community Assistant
This is an opportunity for the person that wishes have several choices in which to be able to contribute to the Home and residents in many ways. The Community Assistant can have direct resident contact by reading, socializing, escorting to appointments in the building, attending recreation activities/trips with the residents; or set up for meals, complete clerical work/copying, delivering stock. Jeannette and Nancy are two such volunteers. Jeannette enjoys setting the tables, pouring drinks and sitting with residents encouraging them to eat. She comes in weekly and has been volunteering for 5 years. The residents and staff look forward to her company. Nancy has learned how to organized the medical records and helps out the secretaries, making copies and filing. She also has had the chance to spend time with the residents by helping with special events such as ice cream socials and parties. All volunteers must be 14 years of age unless part of an adult supervised youth group. They receive an orientation and training for their specific volunteer position.
