Compeer Rochester, Inc. Overall Experience    Amazing! Compeer Rochester offers an opportunity to not only have a significant impact on the life of an adult or youth but it really was a way for me to change my own life as well! Before I volunteered for Compeer I was not sure that I was really capable of having an impact on anyone's life, I had a job and all the trappings of a "normal" life, but I still felt as though something was missing. That was when I heard about Compeer Rochester and the mentoring opportunities they had and I decided to check them out. From the very first moment I called the staff was more than helpful and made me feel really comfortable and really made me feel like I can be a mentor, that I didn't have to be some model-citizen, that regular old me could help someone in need too! After I was matched with my "mentee" it only got better, I was able to go out in the community and do things with a person that I really knew was appreciative of our time together, which made me feel good and I know helped my "mentee" feel good that he was able to go out in the community and feel that he had someone one his side too. Overall Compeer Rochester is a wonderful experience for anyone involved and really made real for me the idea of Being the Change I Want to See in the World, through Compeer I am the Change! posted by MsManx on February 24, 2009
