Agency Details:
Moffatt-Ladd House and Garden
The Moffatt-Ladd House and Garden is one of six historic properties located in downtown Portsmouth. We offer citizens of Portsmouth and visitors to Portsmouth an opportunity to visit the house and to learn about the exciting history of Portsmouth since days of the American Revolutionary War.
Description:
The garden is an important part of the property. It is one of Portsmouth's finest gardens. Although volunteers are able to maintain the formal part of the garden to perfection, there is an area adjacent to High Street that has become overgrown with vegetation and needs to be cleared out so as not to detract from an otherwise very attractive garden.
History:
The Moffatt-Ladd House and Garden is a National Historic Landmark and has been been open to the public as a historic house museum since 1912. The property is owned by a 501 (c) 3 organization, the New Hampshire chapter of the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America.
