Health And Safety Council Of Strafford County

To improve and protect the public health and well being of residents in the region through the facilitation of diverse organizations, institutions, and community residents that collaborate in the enhancement of clinical and community based systems.

Description:
The Health and Safety Council of Strafford County (HSCSC) was formed in 2003, as the Northern Strafford County Health and Safety Council. The organization is a model for regional collaboration that addresses public health, chronic disease prevention and public health emergency planning (e.g., bio-terrorism, infectious diseases, etc.) in our communities. Over the years our work has grown and in 2009 our service area expanded to include all 13 communities of Strafford County.

The 501(c)3 organization is governed by a Board of Directors with representatives from the the 13 communities of Strafford County, Frisbie Memorial Hospital, Wentworth Douglas Hospital, Avis Goodwin Community Health Center, and the University of NH. Funding for the HSCSC is primarily provided by the Center’s for Disease Control and is managed at the state level by NH Department of Health and Human Services; although our staff work on a variety of initiatives with funding from federal, state, and private grants.
