The 4-H Vision
New Hampshire 4-H Youth Development envisions a world in which youth and adults learn, grow, and work together as catalysts for positive change.

Mission Statement
New Hampshire 4-H Youth Development, a program of UNH Cooperative Extension, empowers youth to reach their full potential working and learning in partnership with caring adults.

Description:
4-H Camps promote positive youth development by providing a camp experience that encourages Independence, Generosity, Mastery and Belonging. 4-H Camps emphasize acceptance, health & fitness, communication, positive decision making abilities and social skills in a fun, informal, educational, inclusive environment.

Located deep in the woods, Bear Hill 4-H Camp is a traditional rustic camp with its own lake for boating and swimming. Camp cabins house 4-6 campers, grouped by age and gender, with 1-2 counselors per cabin. Cabins (without electricity!) are arranged in units of 8 cabins, with each unit having its own lodge and a central restroom with toilets and running water. There are two shower facilities accommodating campers and staff. Bear Hill 4-H Camp is approximately 30 minutes from Concord and Manchester.

History:
In the 70-year history of the 4-H camps, the impacts on the lives of the alumni have been great. The camps has a great tradition and guiding principle of building camper’s commitment to better lives for themselves and their community. UNH 4-H Camps provide an opportunity for New Hampshire youth to enrich their lives while learning and practicing the skills and attitudes needed to navigate within an ever-changing world. 4-H Camps give campers the opportunity to create their own community and be an active participant within that community. Interacting with campers and staff from diverse backgrounds and abilities provides campers with unique opportunities to learn about themselves, appreciate differences, and gain positive social skills. Campers spend 144 hours, each week in contact with a well-trained camp staff of carefully chosen young adults.
