The mission of the HUB Family Resource Center is to help parents raise healthy children in caring homes. We provide support to parents and families all over Strafford County.

Description:
The HUB Family Resource Center supports ALL families through home visiting programs, parent education classes, family support groups, play groups and ongoing educational programs. Whether providing a compassionate home visitor to support a family under stress, or facilitating a friendly toddler playgroup in our beautiful space at the McConnell Center in Dover, the HUB is your one stop resource for parenting support. From Milton to Dover, and everywhere in between, the HUB serves area children and their families.

History:
The HUB Family Resource Center began in 1994 as a result of an effort by the Dover Ready to Learn Task Force. The Task Force sought to identify barriers to children entering school "ready to learn". Since that time the agency has enjoyed a close relationship with the Dover School Department, which has provided fiscal services as well as administrative oversight. In 1999, the agency applied for and was awarded 501c3 status, which broadened the funding possibilities for which it was eligible.

The HUB has had 4 homes since 1994, moving most recently in December 2001 into our own house, purchased with support of a Dover Community Development Block Grant.

In the summer of 2007 the HUB opened its beautiful Parent Education Room at the McConnell Center and adjoining Child Care room. This bright and open space is the home for many of the HUBs ongoing support groups and parent education classes.

I have gained respect for the HUB and Nancy Kershaw for helping me recruit children from my neighborhood and others to get their children into the Milton S. Hershey School for low-income families.
