Pro Portsmouth produces a number of the City's Downtown "destination" events including: Children's Day in May, Market Square Day in June, Summer In The Streets in June-August, and First Night Portsmouth on New Year's Eve. History:
Pro Portsmouth was established in 1977 with the onset of Market Square Day. The Market Square Day Festival was created to celebrate the renovation and beautification of Downtown Portsmouth i.e.: Market Square. Over the years Pro Portsmouth Inc. has grown incorporating an active Board of Directors, a full-time staff and volunteers. After a quarter of a century of producing community festivals, Pro Portsmouth has matured into a cultural cornerstone and our events have become community traditions.
