The Lane Memorial Library provides community residents and others with materials, services and programs to help meet their educational, informational, recreational, and professional information needs.
Description:
Lane Memorial Library houses over 66,000 items, including magazines, and provides access to local and global information sources for community residents and visitors. It is open sixty hours per week with a full and part-time staff of sixteen. Services include adult books, children's books, reference, local history and genealogy, as well as books on tape/cd, music cd's, current videos and DVD's, museum passes, and free Internet access, both hardwired and wireless.
History:
Lane Memorial Library was founded in 1881 to serve the residents of Hampton, N.H., a town of about 16,000 currently. It is a public library in the original building that has been expanded and renovated twice, 1957 and 1984. The building houses library services, a Seniors Center, and a public function room for 100.
