Description:
The National Multiple Sclerosis Society serves more people with MS, and funds more MS research than any national voluntary MS organization in the world. It is the only national voluntary MS organization that meets the standards of all major agencies that rate the fiscal responsibility of non-profit groups.
Eighty-five (85) percent of monies raised by the Central New England Chapter support quality of life programs in education, support, and advocacy for nearly 14,000 families affected by MS in New Hampshire and Massachusetts, and funds MS research into the cause, a cure, and better treatments.
History:
The National Multiple Sclerosis Society was founded in 1946 by Sylvia Lawry following the diagnosis of her brother with MS.
Research works! As recently as ten years ago, there were no FDA approved drugs for the treatment of MS.
