We operate a food pantry at the Michael House on 11 Linden St. And provide an advocacy program mostly dealing with financial crisis management for the working poor in the SAU 16 area.
Description:
The Pantry is open on Monday,Tuesday,Thursday nights at 7 PM and Wednesday afternoons at 1 PM . Food is obtained from Parishoners at St.Michael's Church, and food drives from different charitable organizations. The "bulk" of food is purchased at local stores and the New Hampshire Food Bank. We also assist in Thanksgiving and Christmas food and gift baskets. Our Advocacy Program provides counseling and needed referrals for our clients. We also provide a small number of scholarships to eligible clients. We donate a lot of direct financial aid to those individuals that have no other resources for assistance
History:
The Conference was established in 1989 and provides assistance to 250 to 300 families a year. In 2007 we provided 86,000 lbs of food to those most deperately in need.
