EPONA (Equine Protection Of North America)

E.P.O.N.A.'s Mission is to rescue and provide a safe haven for horses of all breeds who are abused and neglected, as well as those destined for slaughter, rehabilitate them and place them in responsible and caring homes. E.P.O.N.A. also provides a comfortable and therapeutic environment for a limited number of permanently retired horses. In addition, E.P.O.N.A. seeks to educate the public about horse welfare issues and the proper care and training of horses.

Description:
Our EPONA program takes in horses that have been abused or neglected, rehabilitates them, and seeks to adopt them to qualified homes. We rely on our more than 40 volunteers to assist with feeding, grooming, and stable care for our horses on a daily basis. Since it's inception, EPONA has rescued over 200 horses.

History:
Early on in his life Ron Levesque was inspired to assist horses in need. E.P.O.N.A (Equine Protection of North America) was established in 1999. The first three rescues that came to E.P.O.N.A. were pre-named Blessed, Unexpected Miracle, and Magic. We researched equine rescue extensively before we began, and we attempted to create a program that would be unique in the rescue and rehabilitation of horses in need. We have accomplished that. E.P.O.N.A. is highly regarded not only within New Hampshire and New England, but also nationally.
