The mission of the nonprofit Gundalow Company is to preserve the gundalow Captain Edward H. Adams as a platform for maritime history and environmental education programs throughout the Piscataqua Region.

Description:
The Gundalow Company sponsors the Captain Adams as it travels between various towns in the Piscataqua region, providing a historic platform for community events and school visits from May through October. In addition to highlighting the maritime heritage of the area, collaborations are developed with local community organizations to address coastal and estuarine issues.
During the winter, the Gundalow Company sponsors an outreach program, visiting schools and adult groups.
Volunteers can assist with all education programs, tours of the gundalow, special events, and ongoing maintenance of the vessel. Training is provided.

History:
The Captain Adams was built in 1982 at Strawbery Banke and spent ten years under the auspices of the Piscataqua Gundalow Project. From 1992-2002 the gundalow was based at Strawbery Banke Museum.

Formed in 2002, the new nonprofit Gundalow Company is committed to preserving the gundalow and providing meaningful education programs that heighten people's awareness of the relationship between regional maritime history and contemporary coastal issues.
