Position title: General board members
Description: The Farmington Community Preservation Guild has undergone a planning process over the past several months. We have sharpened our vision and mission statements, are firming up our goals and are now ready to assemble a team to help us accomplish our work in the community.

We are a small Community Support Organization (CSO) which means that we do most of our work “in the spaces” between other entities in the community and region using tools such as collaboration, matching needs and assets and assembling coalitions to look at community needs that local people care about. The goal is to work toward solutions in the community using cooperative problem-solving that crosses traditional boundaries between schools, government, non-profits and residents.

Our goal is to add a minimum of 3-4 people to our board over the next few months. Skills we are looking for include governance, business planning, fundraising, community-building, facilitation, communications & marketing. Someone with a passion for community who is willing to pull up their sleeves and jump right in would also be a great fit – our work always has an element of learning by doing. Board members do not need to be a resident of Farmington but an interest in rural communities would be helpful.

We do not have a web-site up and running but you can see a sample of the work we have been able to accomplish with the creation of the Explore Collaborative (focused on adult educational needs) by checking out the Explore for Grown-ups web-site at www.ExploreAdultEd.org.
