Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on November 6, 2009

For just two or three hours a week, share your successful years of education and experience with an eager adult learner who is requesting one-on-one tutoring in English as a second language, in GED preparation, or in basic literacy . As a tutor, you will receive training and ongoing support as you work in partnership with your student to reach his individual educational goals.

Training depends on the match involved, and usually is done on a case by case basis. Usually, a group training is done at least once a year. By far, a tutor's commitment and caring are the most important requirements. Naturally, tutors would not be asked to tutor any subject with which they are uncomfortable.
