In any disaster, big or small, the Client Caseworker is vital to beginning recovery for the victim. The Client Caseworker will respond to a disaster and help the victim(s) through the necessary steps to reclaiming what was lost. Caseworkers will assess the needs of the victim, both immediate and long term, to then determine what kind of help they need and where they can receive it if it is outside the scope of the Red Cross. As a Client Caseworker, you can help lead victims of disaster through the process of regaining what they lost and assist in reestablishing their lives.

Volunteers for this position will need to complete a Client Casework class at the Chapter before beginning in the field service. There are two branches of Client Casework--one that allows volunteers to solely respond to major disasters and another that offers volunteers the opportunity to respond to more localized disasters through participating in the Disaster Action Team. DAT requires additional training that can be discussed with the Volunteer Coordinator and/or the Director of Emergency Services.
