Homeless Center announces NEW seasonal Volunteer opportunity Housing/Homelessness Income & Housing
Powered by Truist

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on August 12, 2009

This season begins Oct 5th,2009 and runs till May 3rd, 2010; we are hopeful to begin training new adult volunteers as soon as Sept 1st. Each volunteer brings a sense of respect and hope to our residents; helping to "pass it forward" is our staff's gift to our homeless population. We are all a part of the residents' return to self-sufficiency.

Shifts run during the week; 5pm to 10pm and weekends 6am-noon, noon to 5pm, and 5pm to 10pm. Often volunteers split shifts into 3 hour commitments working as a team to fill each 5-6 hour slot. A commitment for the season is appreciated; the season is 7 months long. Commitments can be once a month, once a week, every other week;

MOST importantly all staff make a beautiful connection with residents; making a positive difference in someone's life is a blessing.

There will be two available training periods/scheduled for September,2009...each new volunteers is required to attend one of the two sessions. Each new volunteer is required to be a shadow with a seasoned (experienced) volunteer at least for one 6 hour shift. All volunteers have to be 21 years old; full criminal background checks are submitted prior to being put on volunteer schedule.
