Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on September 1, 2009

If you have creative energy, a love of learning and an entrepreneurial spirit, we'd like you to join our management team as a volunteer colleague. Our community education/personal enrichment offerings (from Astronomy to Whittling) have a long, successful history, serving 250 - 400 adults/year. We believe the right person could at least double this program, providing exciting new opportunities for adults of all ages and backgrounds. Responsibilities would include identifying new classes and teachers, scheduling and evaluation. The Center provides full clerical support.

The successful candidate will demonstrate relevant interest and appropriate skills. Training will be one on one with the director and office manager. Initial commitment of one year is preferred; hours and schedule are highly flexible.

Sentence composition can be exciting!

For over a year I've worked with an individual on literacy. It started with her requesting help for a course she was taking, but transitioned into addressing her needs around writing. I've gained a whole new perspective on how lucky I am and the difficulties that illiteracy poses in what I consider "everyday" activities.
