Imagine if you were unable to read the newspaper or recognize a friend across the room even when wearing glasses or contact lenses. This is the case for approximately 45,000 people in New Hampshire.

Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on November 6, 2009

The NH Association for the Blind - Volunteer in your own community. With winter fast approaching, many of our clients will spend more time in their homes, some with very little outside contact and support. For many a friendly chat would be a welcome change. Volunteers are matched 1:1 with a client to help with tasks such as visiting, reading the newspaper and mail, sorting paperwork, and help with shopping and getting to appointments.

Interested individuals are required to submit an application, meet in person with the Volunteer Administrator/Coordinator, agree to a Criminal Background Check, sign a Confidentiality Agreement and other forms. An Orientation and Training class must be completed. These classes are held in both Concord and Portsmouth. Applications must be received in advance. Call Anne Aubertin, Volunteer Administrator at 800-464-3075 or 603-224-4039 ext. 317. In the Seacoast area, Stephanie Hurd, Volunteer Coordinator at 603-545-4345
