Volunteer Opportunity Details:

Last updated on September 22, 2009

The individuals and families served by the Senior Companion Program benefit from assistance with day to day activities in order to remain at home. Help may include assistance with shopping or essential errands, preparing a meal together, help with reading mail, transportation to medical appointments, and most importantly, provide caring companionship on a regular basis. Companions also provide a lifeline for caregivers struggling to keep a loved one with dementia or other serious illness at home through much needed respite. The social connection to their community is the key to successful independent living.

Senior Companion volunteers must be age 60 or better and live on a limited income. Training is provided for new volunteers on an ongoing basis with other volunteers from your area. Benefits include hourly stipend, liability/ accident insurance, transportation and meals reimbursement.
