SPECIAL OLYMPICS NEW HAMPSHIRE
38th State Summer Games - University of New Hampshire, Durham, NH
CALL FOR VOLUNTEERS
· More than 1000 Special Olympics athletes, their coaches and family members are preparing for the 38th Special Olympics New Hampshire Summer Games.
· The Games Management Team needs 700 volunteers to help prepare for and conduct the event. We need your help to insure the success of the Games. Please come and give us a hand.
· Please register as soon as you can so we can be sure you have a productive assignment.
· Volunteers are needed for the following tasks and time periods. Please understand that we need a commitment for at least a four hour period and eight hours for some assignments. Some meals require three hours.
TASK: Set Up and Preparations:
Tuesday, June 5 through Thursday, June 7
We need help on those days for a minimum of 4 hours at a time. That is from 8:00 to noon, 1:00pm to 5:00pm. Volunteer tasks requiring physical activity during these days include: Hanging signs, preparing fields, and setting up the dining area, painting, setting up awards stands, etc. Less physical tasks that are available include data entry and office tasks.
TASK: Competitions:
Friday, June 8, from 7:00am to 4:00pm
and/or
Saturday, June 9, from 7:00am to 4:00pm
Volunteer tasks during competition include timing, helping to stage heats for competitive events, "running" heat sheets and information to starting lines, assisting with the awards process and the presentation of medals and ribbons, water distribution, trash removal, lunch distribution, etc.
TASK: Opening Ceremonies:
Friday, June 8 from 5:30pm to 9:30pm
Help stage and direct the parade of athletes. Assist with the orderly exit of participants following the ceremonies.
TASK: Meals:
Friday, June 8 from 4:00pm to 9:30pm
Saturday, June 9 from 6:30am to 9:30am
Saturday, June 9 from 4:00pm to 9:30pm
Help with set up, serving and clean up.
