The Somersworth Main Street Program is seeking about 7 to 8 volunteers to serve as guides during the city’s Holiday Candlelight Stroll. The family-orientated event consists of groups of 20 traveling from church to church in the heart of Somersworth along candlelit pathways. Each church will offer some form of holiday musical entertainment. A bus will also travel from church to church to transport any walkers who might not be able to finish the walk due to weather conditions or age.

The guides will lead the walkers along the sidewalk, using a flashlight (although the areas are well lit), to lead them to the exact location of the next church. The walk is about a mile long. There’s not much more to it than that. Santa and homemade cookies await the walkers at the end of each stroll.

The event will take place alongside the city’s overall Holiday Festival, which includes a tree lighting, caroling, and a gingerbread house contest, on Saturday, Dec. 1 from 5 to 8 p.m.
