You will work with the program coordinator to develop community connections, increase public awareness of program, and recruit volunteers and students. Specific tasks will include developing and maintaining contact and email databases, establishing distribution routes for marketing material, creating and maintaining displays, preparing and distributing marketing materials, improving web presence, tracking volunteer inquiries, researching, writing and sending regular marketing items (email and print media), and organizing the annual marketing activity cycle. Additionally, the program assistant will be asked to organize and prepare training, operational and instructional materials, and do other administrative tasks as needed.

Volunteers must be 18, hold a GED or high school diploma and be able to speak, read and write English. Ideal candidates will have a strong interest or experience working in a non-profit environment and/or adult literacy, strong verbal and writing skills, some knowledge of marketing and communications methods, and experience/exposure to databases, email and other office equipment. Ability to work independently is a plus. If you also know how to develop a web site, all the better!
