Habitat ReStore is a facility that supports the services provided by Lawrence Habitat for Humanity. We are a program of the affiliate and our primary mission is to provide additional funding to support our home building goals. In addition we expand opportunities to serve a broader base of the low income community by providing low cost materials And we hope to provide good stewardship of sustainable resources in the community.
Description:
ReStore is a non-profit fundraiser which resells used and new building materials it receives from donors such as manufactures, stores, contractors, and remodelers. In-Kind Donation receipts are given to donors for tax deductions. Volunteers are the primary source of labor for ReStores. Volunteer tasks range from assisting customers to helping to receive donations and accompanying our truck driver on pick-ups. We process those donations by cleaning, pricing, testing of appliances, and moving materials onto the sales floor. Some heavy lifting, but we can find tasks for anyone's ability. Our staff is well loved and supportive.
History:
Habitat ReStores are found in every State of the US and most Provinces in Canada. Lawrence ReStore opened to the public September 2005. So far ReStore has re-sold to the public over 610 Tons of quality building materials which otherwise would have filled our landfills. We have saved homeowners significant money in the up-keep to their homes. We have given volunteer opportunities to 100's of volunteers.
