Save Our Shelter Animals

Our mission is to build a no kill animal shelter and provide ongoing low/no cost spay/neuter programs. We believe we can accomplish our goal of a no-kill animal community in the greater Topeka area by adhering to the following guidelines:

Create awareness of the issue
High volume low/no cost spay/neuter
TNR (Trap, Neuter, Return) for Feral and free roaming cats
Promoting adoption from local shelters and rescue groups
Build a cooperative effort across the Topeka animal welfare community
Build a no-kill minimal cage animal shelter

Description:
Our guiding principles are:

First and foremost, benefit the companion animals of Topeka.
Base all strategic decisions on the No-Kill Equation.
Conduct ourselves in a professional and ethical manner.
Foster respect and understanding among the members of the animal welfare community.

We plan to build a large all animal no-kill shelter along with an ongoing low/no cost spay/neuter clinic. We also intend to include therapeutic horseback riding, dog training classes, pet retention solutions, Cesar Millan classes, small animals as pets education, and animal daycare facilities. We plan to fundraise $120,000.00 this year as a down payment on our land.

History:
Our members are from a variety of backgrounds and we are a very hands on organization. We communicate daily on the Internet and meet monthly. We are determined to cease the euthanasia of what we believe to be thousands of animals per year in our local shelters. We have just organized this year, and we plan to raise $120,000.00 in the next twelve months to purchase our shelter land at 10th & Urish Road.
