"To engage in services and educational efforts that enhance functioning and encourage personal growth in order that our clients may more clearly realize their potential"
Description:
Doorstep provides, upon eligibility and available funding, emergency assistance, including, rent and utility assistance, prescription coverage, food, and transportation (bus tickets - gasoline vouchers). We also have a clothing bank, which includes not only clothing, but household items, books and misc.
We have (5) five paid staff. All additional workers are volunteers. The volunteers work in our food pantry stocking and filling food orders; and our clothing room sorting and sacking the items the clients have chosen as needed. Our front desk receptionists are also volunteers, and as needed, we have volunteers that are trained to interview clients.
History:
Since 1966 Doorstep has been meeting the needs of families in crisis. We believe that all people have a right to food, clothing, and shelter, and we will devote our efforts and energies to serve those ends. It is our philosophy that Doorstep can best serve those in need as an interfaith organization rather than by individual efforts alone.
