ERC Resource & Referral

ERC is an umbrella organization identifying and serving the needs of men, women and children in northeast Kansas. Services will be provided as necessary and delivered either solely or collaboratively in the forms of: resource/referral, workshops, seminars, training and advocacy.

Description:
Offers a variety of resource and referral services in the areas of child care, employment, housing, counseling, crisis, parenting and general community information. The agency has no eligibility requirements, and with few exceptions, ERC's services are at no cost.

Areas of assistance include:

Current listings of regulated child care facilities in Jackson, Osage, Shawnee, Pottawatomie and Wabausnee counties.

Guidelines for choosing good quality child care.

Technical assistance for prospective and current child care providers.

Employment and training opportunities for job seekers.

Recruitment source for employees and employers.

Technical assistance for companies interested in helping employees with work/family issues.

Current listings of low-cost rental properties and emergency housing.

Services for legal, financial, educational, medical and psychological counseling.

Listing of places to turn to in emergency situations.

General referrals about community events, agencies and organizations.

History:
The agency was established on December 4, 1978 to be a clearinghouse of information for women, men and families. Formerly known as Everywoman's Resource Center, the agency will be celebrating its 25th anniversary in 2003.
