Community Resources Council
The Community Resources Council is a non-profit community agency that provides planning support and information services to non-profit and governmental agencies addressing health, human services and housing needs.
Description:
CRC provides planning and coordination assistance to local service agencies and funders, helping with policy development, proposal review, communications and consultation. CRC publishes an annual "Community Resources Directory", a cross-indexed guide to health and human service for Topeka-Shawnee County. CRC also publishes "Trends and Indicators," an annual compilation of population, economic, health and social indicators. CRC is responsible for a multi-agency client tracking database shared by the major emergency aid and homeless services in the community.
History:
CRC was established in 1927 as the Council of Social Agencies, later becoming the Topeka Welfare Planning Council. In 1969 the organization became the Community Resources Council. CRC services to the community have historically been underwritten by the United Way of Greater Topeka. In 1981 the City of Topeka and Shawnee County joined this funding partnership to support planning, coordination and data-collection work benefiting the entire community.
